Pet Memorial Program

The BARCS Pet Memorial Program offers a unique way to support your clients by honoring their pets with a memorial gift to the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS). Your gift will share an expression of sympathy that demonstrates a commitment to your clients and their pets—and the lifesaving mission of Maryland’s largest animal shelter.

A gift to the Pet Memorial Program in memory of your client’s beloved pet shows your client that you truly care about their significant loss while benefiting animals in need at BARCS. Your clients will be touched that someone has taken the time to let them know how much they sympathize by remembering their pet in this special way. A contribution to the Pet Memorial Program aids in the healing process when a pet passes away and offers an opportunity for your veterinary practice to acknowledge pain and loss in a meaningful way.

Your clients will also take comfort knowing that a gift in their pet’s name helps BARCS give second chances to 11,000-12,000 homeless animals and provide free or low-cost resources and services to 5,000+ pet owners in the Baltimore community. A long-standing option for donors, BARCS receives nearly 4,000 individual contributions a year in memory of people and pets.

Upon receipt of your donation, BARCS will mail a personalized letter to your client, telling them of your generosity. The letter will read in part, “We received a generous financial contribution from name of your clinic/hospital in memory of your beloved pet, their pet’s name.”

We ask that veterinary partners in this program make a contribution of $10 or more per acknowledged pet. The form to do so is linked below and provides a quick and easy way to participate in this program.

BARCS is a 501(c)3 nonprofit (EIN: 86-1130456), meaning our lifesaving mission begins with private financial support. This program is championed by Dr. Jay McDonnell, DACVIM, a proud member of BARCS’ Board of Directors.
