Kyle & Chino Head Back Home

For the last two months, BARCS had the privilege of boarding two bonded puppies, Chino and Kyle. These two buddies entered our Home Away from Home emergency boarding program when their family was displaced; the family was able to find housing in a hotel, but the hotel would not accept the dogs. Thankfully, the family was referred to BARCS and our program by their social worker.

Chino and Kyle were, and we say this affectionately, big ol’ knuckleheads. They were fun-loving buddies who treated every day like an adventure. Chino was a big social butterfly who loved meeting new visitors, while his brother Kyle took a little time to warm up. You could find the two playing or sleeping on top of each other in their office. Their confidence shined when they were together; they were always happy to greet familiar staff and volunteers with big, goofy hugs and kisses. Seemingly everyone at the shelter knew and loved them!

We’re delighted to share that, this past weekend, Chino and Kyle were reunited with their family after one of our dedicated volunteers drove them home. They recognized their beloved owner right away, and Chino quickly found his old favorite stuffy to carry around.

This lifesaving program would not be possible without the support of generous donors like Maddie’s Fund, a national family foundation established by Dave and Cheryl Duffield to revolutionize the status and well-being of companion animals, to help support our mission to keep families together.

As a Tier 1 shelter in the Human Animal Support Services shelter project, BARCS firmly believes that pets with families who love them should not find themselves homeless when resources and solutions exist to help them. Our vision for the future is to continue to grow and support programs that get lost pets home quickly, help pet owners who are struggling to meet their pets’ needs, and preserve families, leaving the kennels in our shelter reserved for only those pets who truly need to be here.

Thank you, Maddie’s Fund! #ThankstoMaddie
