Love at First Adoption Event
It's no secret that we face the ongoing challenge of limited kennel space. Every day, we pour our hearts into finding loving homes for the homeless animals of Baltimore City. To assist in this endeavor, we host special adoption events to help our furry friends find their own loving families. Our staff and volunteers work tirelessly on these events, fueled by hope and a shared passion for animal welfare. And you know what? It's heartwarming stories like the one we are about to share that make every effort worthwhile.
Poker, now named William, came to BARCS through no fault of his own, patiently waiting for a new home. It's heartwarming to learn that he's found his match and is thriving in a loving home of his own. His Happy Tail warms our hearts and reminds us that hope can indeed come true. Let’s hear from William’s mom:
"Hi there! I adopted Poker (now Willam) at last weekend's adoption event, and I heard he was a staff favorite. I understand you all would like updates."
"Willam is the bestest boy. He is so sweet, silly, and eager to please! He learned his first new command, "wait," in less than a day and is working hard on his leash manners. He's a perfect angel when it's time to go to bed in his crate at night, and he hangs out all day while Mom works and throws his favorite squeaky ball for him. He is learning about his cat brother and how to be respectful, even though he does his very best bouncy play-with-me dance and the cat isn't interested. He wants to play with the cat SO bad but listens to Mom when she says to not bother him."
"He loves playing with all his new toys, doing a prancy dance when he is waiting for his dinner, cuddling up on the couch with Mom to watch Drag Race, giving chest-press, head-on-shoulder hugs in the morning when he wakes up, and when Mom tells him he's a Willy good boy."
"Willam is the best dog, and he's fitting in so well. We just wanted to share how happy we are!"
