Maryland 3000

Current Promotion:

For the month of August, BARCS is participating in a statewide intiative: Maryland 3000. Animal shelters across the state are waiving adoption fees all month long with the goal of getting 3,000 total animals (or more!) adopted. Adoption fees are waived for all animals 8/1-8/31 in our shelter, foster homes and at adoption events!

Ongoing Adoption Promotions

Our ongoing promotions to encourage adoption and save lives! Thank you to our donors who make these possible.

A $10 Pet License fee is still required for Baltimore City residents, for all pets adopted through waived fee specials. Specials include everything shown in the Champion Adoption Package mentioned below.

  • Adoption fees are waived for long-term animals in our shelter that have been overlooked for adoption.

  • Adoption fees are always waived for all animals at our shelter on Wednesdays!

  • Adoption fees are waived for all small companion, reptile and farm animals.

  • Adoption fees are waived for animals that need an adopter willing to go above and beyond for their on-going care.

  • Adoption fees are waived for all animals 6 months and older who came to BARCS together and must be adopted together (bonded pairs).

  • Adoption fees are waived for cats not suited for traditional adoption and are instead looking for "work" keeping rodents away in barns, warehouses, corporate campuses, plant nurseries or other places of business.

  • Adoption fees are waived for cats, of any age, who have tested positive for FIV and FeLV, two diseases that are not uncommon but often misunderstood.

  • Adoption fees are waived for police, firefighters, active duty military and veterans.

  • Adoption fees are two-for-one when adopting two cats, 6 months or older, that did not come in together.

  • Adoption fees are waived for all animals 5 years and older.
