BARCS 2025 Calendar Photo Contest
Until September 8, BARCS is accepting entries for our 2025 Calendar Photo Contest, presented by Complete Climate Services. Thirteen lucky pets will be featured in the calendar—one for each month and a special cover model—chosen by a panel of BARCS volunteers and fosters. We’ll also showcase additional photos as “honorable mentions” on the inside covers and informational pages.
Strikes and Snuggles, Bags and Boops
Join Mt. Airy Lanes and BARCS on Sunday, September 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a fun-filled day featuring local breweries, distilleries, a corn hole tournament, duckpin bowling, and more! Enjoy tastings from top brewers and spirits, live music from DJ Charlie, and outdoor games in our new space. With a $10 donation at the door, you'll receive a 4 oz tasting cup and 5 tickets. Feel free to bring your pups, but please note there will be limited roaming areas. The event will take place rain or shine!

Towson and Eldersburg! For one day only, bring your dog to splash, paddle, fetch, and play in our pool! Along with your ticket, a $5 cash donation per dog is required, with all proceeds benefiting BARCS (Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter) and dogs in need of loving homes. Baltimore Dog Cat Rat (Bike Race)
The inaugural Baltimore Dog Cat Rat Race is a biking scavenger hunt, benefiting two Baltimore-based nonprofits: the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter and Bikemore. Our event is in the style of an “Alley Cat” or “Rat Race,” which are part bike race, part scavenger hunt, that rewards a mix of strategy and speed. Therefore, we thought it only right to name ours the Dog Cat Rat, to represent all the types of critters BARCS takes in every year as an open-admission shelter!
20th Annual BARCStoberfest Kickoff & Beer Drop Party
Get ready for the annual BARCStoberfest beer release! Join us at Checkerspot Brewing on Saturday, September 20, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., to see this year's label featuring Maja. Third Annual Amy Caprio Classic Weightlifting Competition
Each September since 2022, the Amy Caprio Classic has hosted a push/pull powerlifting competition to honor fallen Baltimore County Police Officer Amy Caprio and her passion for animals. This one-day event is held at Exile Gym in Rosedale, MD, within the Exile Barbell Club. Join the competition on Saturday, September 21!

The Road Home- Adoption Event and Subaru Rally
Join BARCS, Heritage Subaru Catonsville, and I.G. Burton Subaru of Glen Burnie on Saturday, September 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at REI in Columbia for a special "Share the Love" event. Adoption fees are sponsored by Subaru, and BARCS will bring their mobile adoption unit, the BFF Waggin', filled with adoptable animals. Subaru owners can also join the "car show" rally for $30, which includes parking, an event T-shirt, and a raffle ticket. Don't miss this chance to find your new furry friend or show off your Subaru—all while supporting BARCS' lifesaving mission!

BARCStoberfest 2024
BARCStoberfest is an annual, large-scale, pet-friendly festival and fundraiser that benefits the lifesaving programs and animal care at the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS). The Patterson Park festival includes the annual "Ready, Set, SNIFF!" 5K Run/1-Mile Walk, Howl-o-Ween Pet Costume Contest, Barkin' Beer Garden vendors, kids’ activities, and more! Fundraising leading up to BARCStoberfest raises critical funding for Maryland’s highest volume, an open-admission shelter serving 11,000-12,000 animals per year. Our goal this year is $375,000, so please join us to raise funds for our community's needy animals.
Home in One Annual Golf Tournament
Hunt Valley Country Club is excited to host Home in One to benefit BARCS. Tickets are $200/player with 100% of the proceeds donated directly to BARCS. Registration includes golf with cart, range balls, lunch, dinner and beverages throughout the day. Tee off with a shotgun start (scramble format), which begins promptly at 10 a.m.
Micky's Joint Yappy Hour Fundraiser
Dine for good at Micky’s Joint on Sunday, August 11 from 4-8pm. Micky’s Joint is donating a portion of sales to BARCS, and they will feature a special Tito’s drink that benefits BARCS as well!
Rooftop Yoga at The Shops at Kenilworth
Enjoy an outdoor, 60-minute yoga session (all levels) instructed by The Mine's Sidney Nelson with music on the upper deck of the garage. After the practice, refuel and unwind with drinks from Mucho Gusto and breakfast bites from Gundalow Gourmet and more. Your ticket includes yoga session, breakfast bites, bellinis, and a chance at some amazing door prizes. Adoptable animals will be onsite and all proceeds benefit BARCS and SYSS.
BARCStoberfest Beer Release
Get ready for an exciting opportunity to have your beloved pet featured on the label of the official BARCStoberfest beer by Checkerspot Brewing Company! From July 21-31, you can donate $10 per raffle entry for a chance to win the exclusive can art pet spot on the BARCStoberfest beer label. But wait, there's more! The lucky winner will also get to bring their furry friend to Checkerspot on Brew Day to experience the behind-the-scenes magic.

SOLD OUT The BARCS Crab Feast is back again for another year! Your ticket includes all-you-can-eat crabs, corn, soup, salad, pasta and other food plus coffee, tea and soda. A cash bar will be available at the event.
