The inaugural Baltimore Dog Cat Rat Race is a biking scavenger hunt, benefiting two Baltimore-based nonprofits: the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter and Bikemore. Our event is in the style of an “Alley Cat” or “Rat Race,” which are part bike race, part scavenger hunt, that rewards a mix of strategy and speed. Therefore, we thought it only right to name ours the Dog Cat Rat, to represent all the types of critters BARCS takes in every year as an open-admission shelter!

The Baltimore Dog Cat Rat is a family-friendly version, where teams of 3-5 ride around Herring Run and the connecting neighborhoods, stopping at designated checkpoints to play games and earn points for their team.
The teams with the most points will win prizes at the afterparty at Oliver Brewing, where BARCS will also bring some adorable adoptable pups to celebrate with riders.
Note on Scoring: Teams will be scored and win prizes for overall 1st and 2nd place, top family prize (for groups with at least one rider under 12 years old) and DFL (dead flippin’ last–a time-honored tradition of Alley Cat races).
