Midas

Last week, a Baltimore resident brought a dog to BARCS. The dog, who we named Midas, could not stand or move without help. He was also extremely emaciated—so much so that he has muscle loss on top of his head, along his spine and over his shoulders and hips. That much muscle loss indicates that he’s been without food and water for a very long time. An examination by our skilled and caring veterinary team also found a right femur fracture.

It was clear Midas was in need of immediate emergency care, so our team sent him to one of our partner ER clinics. In addition to being emaciated and weak, Midas was very dehydrated, and his skin was breaking down. He started a strict refeeding schedule with IV fluids. Notably, the fracture on his right leg is older and had healed in malalignment.

Thankfully, Midas did not need surgery on his leg, and he took to the re-feeding schedule very well. Once he felt better and stronger, Midas was placed in a loving foster home, where his “pawrents” fell in love with him and adopted him.

Donate now and give the gift of health and life. BARCS’ Franky Fund cares for nearly 900 animals each year with extraordinary medical needs. The costs to save their lives is outside of our annual budget, and so the Franky Fund relies completely on private donations. 100% of your gift today will help the animals listed below and others like them.

If you have more questions about the Franky Fund or donating, please email give@BARCS.org.
