Strawberry Milkshake

Baltimore City Animal Control officers had responded to a call about an abandoned cat. It was reported that citizens witnessed Strawberry Milkshake, as we named him, being repeatedly slammed against a dumpster. X-rays showed that he sustained a fracture so severe that his bone shattered; he also had a fracture in his right hip joint.

Strawberry was rushed to a partner emergency veterinary clinic for overnight care and monitoring. He received an orthopedic surgery consultation that confirmed he needed his left hind leg to be amputated and FHO surgery on his right hip socket 2-4 weeks after his leg was amputated. Thankfully, Strawberry handled the surgery and recovery well.

Despite the cruelty he endured, Strawberry is the sweetest boy. He quickly won over the staff at the hospital with his soft fur and gentle head butts. His trusting nature tells us he wants to be someone’s pet—someone’s best friend. We’ll never understand why a person would choose to treat an animal in this way.

Once he was stronger and felt much better, Strawberry was adopted into a loving home.
