Helping All People in Baltimore:
BARCS’ mission is not limited to compassion for animals—we firmly believe that no one should be judged or discriminated against on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, ability or level of income, or other non-merit factors.
BARCS is proud to collaborate with organizations and institutions within our community to help achieve the equity to which all humans are entitled to for pet ownership and access to resources. A broad lens of equity and diversity has a positive impact on the animals in our care and helps us better serve clients, employees, volunteers and our community at large.
BARCS' programs that support these beliefs include:
Adoption Policies - Low or waived adoption fees throughout the year; BARCS does not ask for income requirements, home checks, or housing requirements.
Keeping Pets with Families - This program offers solutions for family retention and emergency boarding to keep pets where they belong: in their home.
Community Pets Program - Community members have access to resources and supplies at our offsite clinics with no proof of housing, income or welfare.
Free and Low-cost Vaccine Clinics to keep pets healthy and up-to-date on lifesaving vaccines.
ASPIRE High School Workforce Development Program - This program empowers youth in our community to earn an income while getting hands-on experience from BARCS.
Employment - BARCS is an equal-opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
