Here’s how it works when you visit BARCS in search of a new furry friend: You start by registering in the adoption lobby, then you tour the kennel rooms where countless adorable faces gaze at you with hope. Suddenly, one catches your eye. You return to the lobby to sign up for a match-making session. This is where the spark of love can ignite, and if all goes well, it marks the beginning of a Happy Tail.

Three years ago, Sophie, formerly Ellie at BARCS, sparked love when she nestled her tiny head on her new mom, and from that moment, their bond became unbreakable. Here’s their heartwarming update:

“My little freeloader, Sophie (formerly Ellie), is the best decision I made 3 years ago when I adopted her from BARCS. She’s my homie, always waiting for me to get home from work, meowing for her mama before I even unlock the door. As soon as I walk in, she runs to her side of the couch, ready for pets and lovin’s. She’s a diva, and I love her for it. Every day she makes me happy, and I hope I do the same for her. The first time she rested her head on my shoulder while I was searching for a new best friend, I knew she was the one. She still does it, and it melts my heart every time. She's my forever bestie.”
